The Marxists Internet Archive has made available the 1953 column by Raya Dunayevskaya (“Intellectuals and the Radical Workers“) that I mentioned in an earlier post.

This version, which appeared in Correspondence, is a little fuller account of the encounter of A.J. Muste and the American Workers Party with the radical intellectuals of the 1930s than the one she published in News & Letters in 1958 (“Unemployment and Organizations To Fight It“).

Note: A reader of that previous post questioned my characterization of Louis Budenz as an “important figure of American Marxism.” I acknowledge the exaggeration. It would have been more accurate to say something like, “briefly a prominent figure in the Communist Party, who subsequently became a professional anti-Communist.”
